Well, I think we did Okay. Our first One Design Regatta was a pretty fun event. Held at Ridgway Reservoir, September 14 & 15, we successfully got off 5 races over 2 days of challenging conditions. Winds ranged from 0-12 kts with sunny conditions on Saturday and stormy conditions on Sunday. Race committee performed flawlessly. A big shout out to Doug and Rosemary McKnight from Union Sailing Club and James Reinecke, from Telluride who negotiated the changing conditions like real pros.
The overall winner of the Regatta was Dirk and Henry Richter (USA 101) who put together a master class schooling the fleet on how to win races in variable conditions. In second was David Petty and Ali Price (USA 837) who, after a close battle with Ed and Rose O'Sullivan (USA 830), won the last race on Sunday to take local honors. Ed and Rose O'Sullivan ended up third, followed by Charles Price and Arren Conner (USA 831) in fourth, Mike Mayer and Debbie Patterson (USA 829) in fifth and Derek Keen and Yaga Richter (USA 319) in sixth. Starts were close, racing was tight, mark rounding's were exciting. All in all, very satisfying racing.
