INVITATION

Telluride Yacht Club (TYC) cordially invites you to attend the 2024 Telluride One Design Fall Classic Regatta to be held on McPhee Reservoir,  October 12 - 13, 2024. This regatta is for Melges 15, Melges 14, Snipes and MC Scows.  Telluride Yacht Club is the host club and the Telluride Yacht Club Melges 15 Fleet is the Organizing Authority of the Regatta.

1. RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the latest Class Rules  for each class.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1. The Regatta is open to Melges 15, Melges 14, Melges MC Scows and Snipes.

2.2. We would appreciate all competitors registering at the events page via the website at www.tellurideyachtclub.org by October 11,  2024.

2.3. On-site registration may be performed at the registration table at the parking lot at McPhee Reservoir from 9:00 am - 10:00 am on Saturday,  October 12, 2024. All competitors must check in on Saturday morning.

2.4  All competitors will be required to sign a waiver of liability.

3. FEE

3.1.  The registration entry fees are $95.00 per boat.

4. SCHEDULE

Saturday, October 12, 2024

09:00 AM to 10:00 AM at  west end parking lot at Ridgeway Reservoir:   Late Registration and Check-in.

10:00 AM – at the boat ramp at McPhee Reservoir:  Skippers Meeting.

11:30 AM –  Scheduled time of the first warning signal. Other races to follow.

No races will start after 3:30 PM.

07:00 PM - No host Cocktails and Dinner in Delores.

5. MEASUREMENTS – All boats shall comply with class measurement rules.  No onsite measurement of boats will be conducted.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS – The sailing instructions (SI’s) will be available on the Telluride Yacht Club website on or before October 11, 2024, and on race day at the registration desk.

7.1. Directions and other information relating to TYC are available on its website located at www.tellurideyachtclub.org.

7.2. Accommodations – There are many hotels and camping facilities in the Delores, Telluride and Mountain Village area. Visit www.telluride.com for information on accommodations, restaurants, events and festivals.  Camping is also available at the McPhee Recreational Campgrounds.

7.3 Parking - All competitors are to park in designated areas.

8. CLASSES

8.1. This regatta is for one design sailboats in the Melges 15, Melges 14, Melges MC Scow and Snipe class.  There must be 3 boats to form a class.

8.2. Racing area and start lines will be announced at Skipper’s meeting.

9. SCORING

9.1. Scoring shall follow Appendix A of the RRS, using the low point scoring system, except that there shall be one (1) throw out race for every six races completed.

9.2. Number of races scheduled will be identified in the Sailing Instructions.

10. RADIO COMMUNICATION – VHF radios are envcouraged on each boat so the race committee can communicate with the competitors. Be advised that only in an emergency, a skipper of a boat that is racing shall not make electronic voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.

11. ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY – By participating in the regatta, each boat owner, skipper and crew agree to sail and use the McPhee Reservoir facilities at his or her own risk. To the fullest extent permitted under Colorado law, each boat owner, skipper and crew unconditionally and irrevocably release and discharges the Telluride Yacht Club, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the Department of Agriculture, their officers, board of directors, agents, and all other persons who assist in maintaining equipment or in organizing and/or conducting races from all claims and legal liability for personal injury, death or property damage incurred in connection with the regatta and caused by negligence.
